CUMULATIVE EXERCISE ON USE OF VERBS

Fill the following blanks with suitable form of Active or Passive voice of verb:

Note: (1) Words in parenthesis are dictionary form of the Main Verbs.

          (2) Use appropriate Helping/Auxiliary/Modal Verb(s) where necessary.

h)      Imagine a day, not many years from now. A man __1__ (enter) into a car which __2__ (make) from plastic. The car __3__ (design) for luxury and __4__ (run) at a high speed. This __5__ (carry) four persons at most.

i)        Had Police provided security, public __1__ (not take) law in their hands.

j)        If our leaders had made correct decisions, our country __1__ (emerge) as the greatest Asian power.    

ADDITIONAL EXERCISE ON CHANGE OF VOICE

Change the following sentences into Passive Voice. Do not mention the doer/subject if not necessary.

a)      A partner can draw his share of profit in cash.

b)      If I compete in the quiz, I will win a prize.

c)      Eat an apple in morning but don’t peel off its skin.

d)      Officers have freely ignored the government regulations.

e)      We cannot approve your loan request.

f)        Some students did not attempt all questions.

g)      Majority of people has rejected the dictatorship.

h)      They are pulling down the old tree.

i)        Which colours have they chosen for there house?

j)        You can gain nothing without effort.
